'for the love of life' in viet nam
Ha Noi, Viet Nam: The United Nations has proclaimed 1 December as World AIDS Day, 3 Dec International Day of Disabled Persons, and 5 Dec as the International Volunteer Day. For the last few years, in early Dec, organizations that involve disabled people and various agencies have organized meetings and exchange programs to mark the three days in Viet Nam. This year UN agencies, the Hanoi Disabled People’s Association and similar organizations will hold an exchange programme called "For the Love of Life" on 3 Dec at Thong Nhat park in Ha Noi. The event is also in line with the UN full general Assembly’s upcoming approval of the ‘Convention on the Rights of individual with disablement’ and the response to the call of the UN Economic and sociable Commission for Asia and the Pacific Ocean (UNESCAP). The programme is for people such as disabled people, people living with HIV/AIDS and enthusiastic volunteers who are actively supporting the disadvantaged ones as well as helping in other development areas. It is also aimed at enhancing the competency of the Hanoi Disabled People’s Association and disabled people’s organisation. Attending the meeting are leaders of the authorities, involving ministries, committees and subdivision, ambassadors, representatives from international and non-governmental organizations, disabled people, people living with HIV/AIDS; subject and international volunteers. In add-on, there are 30 booths displaying merchandise made by disabled people from the disabled people’s production and concern enterprises- members of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Association of concern Enterprises for People with disablement; information booths on organisation involving disabled people, people living with HIV/AIDS, military volunteer; exchange activities on the programme “ICT-Lighten the Belief”, and amusement.
